Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never been to therapy before…what can I expect?

Great question! I’m so glad you’re here. The first time we meet we will have an intake session where I can learn all about you, what brings you to counseling, and collaborate with you on what you’d like to get out of treatment. A typical therapy session will last for 50 minutes and will include a mix of coping skills, education, processing, and collaboration specific to your individual needs and goals. We will meet you where you are and work at a pace that feels comfortable and therapeutic to you.

Where are you located?

At this time Sunnyside Counseling exclusively provides telehealth sessions via Simple Practice.

How much does it cost?

Initial intake sessions are $150 and follow up appointments are $125 per 50 minute session and $180 per 80 minute session.

Do you take insurance?

At this time, Sunnyside Counseling is a completely private-pay practice. While this may differ from what you’re accustomed to, there are several advantages to being private pay. By choosing to be private pay, the therapy process can be completely determined by the therapist and client without involvement and restrictions of the insurance company. This means that we do not have to diagnose our clients nor follow the insurance companies expectations and recommendations for treatment. I can provide a Superbill upon request by the client.

What types of clients do you treat?

I have extensive clinical experience working with survivors of childhood trauma including neglect, abuse, and assault. I also enjoy working with clients that have attachment or relational trauma, are struggling with life transitions, relationship struggles, and those who want to know themselves on a deeper level. Additionally, I love working with women who have been diagnosed with ADHD after childhood or may suspect they are neurodivergent.

Do you only treat clients in the state of Texas?

Yes. At this time I am only licensed to treat individuals who are in the state of Texas for the time of treatment.
